About Seekakai Podi
A traditional Ayurvedic hair cleanser made from the dried pods of the Acacia concinna plant, ground with green gram, fenugreek and aromatic roots.
It cleans the scalp without stripping it the way a detergent shampoo does, which is the whole reason households kept using it after shampoo existed.
Also used as a gentle skin cleanser. It is not soap and it will not lather like soap — that is the point, not a fault.
Ingredients
Everything that goes in, and nothing that does not. No preservatives, no chemicals, no added colour.

- Green gram
- Fenugreek
- Vasambu
- Vetti ver
Ground in a facility that also handles wheat, groundnut, sesame and tree nuts.
How to use
Take two to three spoons of the powder in a clean bowl.
Pour warm water or fermented rice water in slowly and stir to a smooth, medium-thin paste.
Let it rest ten minutes so the herbs activate.
Wet your hair and scalp completely, apply the paste to the scalp and roots, and massage gently with your fingertips for a couple of minutes.
Keep it off the ends to avoid drying them, leave it on for ten to fifteen minutes, then rinse.
