About Murungai Leaf Podi
Murungai keerai podi is the easiest way to get drumstick leaves into a meal that would otherwise not have them. Dried leaf, roasted lentils, chilli and salt — nutrient-dense in a form that keeps.
It carries iron, vitamins and antioxidants without needing anyone to cook a keerai poriyal on a weekday morning.
Mild by podi standards. Children eat it without complaint, which is most of the point.
Ingredients
Everything that goes in, and nothing that does not. No preservatives, no chemicals, no added colour.
- Dried murungai (moringa) leaves
- Bengal gram (chenna dal)
- Toor dal
- Dried red chilli
- Salt
Ground in a facility that also handles wheat, groundnut, sesame and tree nuts.
How to use
Mix with cold-pressed sesame oil (nallennai) or cow ghee and serve beside hot idli, dosa or uttapam.
Podi idli: toss mini or leftover idlis in a hot pan with a little oil and a generous spoon of the powder.
Stir into steaming hot rice with a teaspoon of melted ghee or sesame oil.
