About Sesame Podi
A traditional dry powder built on roasted black sesame. The sesame is what carries it: roasted until it pops and smells of itself, then ground with the dals while still warm.
Darker and heavier than an idly podi, and meant to be used the same way — a spoon on the plate, a splash of oil beside it.
Black sesame rather than white. It is the one worth roasting.
Ingredients
Everything that goes in, and nothing that does not. No preservatives, no chemicals, no added colour.
- Black sesame
- Urad dal
- Bengal gram (chenna dal)
- Dried red chilli
- Salt
Ground in a facility that also handles wheat, groundnut, sesame and tree nuts.
How to use
Serve in a small bowl beside idli, dosa or uttapam, mixed with a splash of oil or ghee.
Dust over raw or cooked dosa, or toss through mini idlis.
Use as a quick seasoning for savoury breakfast stir-fries.
